Welcome to the Secondary Schools Committee (SSC) Home Page

The OCASC Secondary Schools Committee (SSC) is a sub-committee of OCASC, which traditionally met, on the second Thursday of the month, throughout the school year, to discuss issues that are specific to OCDSB secondary schools. During the 2016–17 school year, the SSC separated from the General Assembly about halfway through the meeting. This year (2017-18), it hasn’t yet been decided whether the SSC meetings will take place during the general assembly meetings or on a separate evening. Keep an eye on the website ( and on the Facebook page ( for more details.

The SSC focuses its discussions on topics pertinent to secondary school councils and parents.  Click here to review all SSC Meeting Minutes. When available agendas will be posted at the end of this page.

The objectives of the Secondary Schools Committee are to:

  1. Increase parent knowledge of and involvement in secondary school education in Ottawa-Carleton;
  2. Promote the development of school councils and parent associations to represent parents of students in each Ottawa-Carleton secondary school;
  3. Sponsor and encourage research into and study of educational issues and concerns in Ottawa-Carleton secondary schools;
  4. Formulate recommendations regarding secondary school education in Ottawa-Carleton, and to assist in implementing such recommendations.
