Jocelyn Wentland, M.S.: “(How to) Talk to your Kids about Sex.”
On Thursday, February 27th at 7:00 p.m., the Earl of March will be hosting a parent information session on “(How to) Talk to your Kids about Sex.” Today’s youth are learning more about sex than many parents realize. They are constantly exposed to sexually charged imagery and messaging, through social media, Internet porn, music videos, and downloadable shows. Parents want to be kids’ go-to resource for learning about healthy relationships and sexual values, but many parents feel excluded from a conversation that has come to be dominated by anonymous third parties online.
Jocelyn Wentland, M.S., is a doctoral student and human sexuality researcher at the University of Ottawa. During this evening’s session, Ms. Wentland will present effective tools for approaching and engaging your children on this difficult but important topic. Find out how to become part of the conversation with your kids about sexual values. Join us at Earl of March Secondary School (#4 The Parkway, Kanata, ON K2K 2B6).
Please note that this discussion of sensitive issues is for parents only. To create a safe environment in which frank questions can be asked and answered, please do not attend with children or teens.
